When Josh Rosenblatt wanted to earn his red badge of courage, he sought it in the fight ring. After witnessing an amateur mixed-martial-arts contest one night in Austin, Texas, and effusing to his friends about the bravery and commitment of the combatants, the sports scribe—33 years old and self-admittedly a heavy drinker and out of shape—was invited by an acquaintance to train in Krav Maga, the Israeli art of self-defense.
